In addition, we've made inventions to make us comfortable, and therefore keep us evolutionarily stagnant. I.E. houses with air conditioning. There is no more 'survival of the fittest'. there's just 'survival'.

But also, try walking up to a man of 300 years ago and asking him to man a computer. He'd call it the devil and drive an axe through it. Intellectually, we've advanced. People THINK more now. Rather, MORE people think now. ...But still, we need circumstances to weed out all of a certain type of people in order to evolve. When our drugs fail, we'll see people dying left and right. The strongest immune systems will survive, and humans will 'evolve' once again. Because all evolution is is taking out the majority of the gene pool, and leaving minimum diversity to diversify itself within itself. =/

That is one of the things I forgot to mention and what you said supports my statement =)

And I was talking about human beings as a whole. In general, the average human isn't changing a whole lot. Sure we may make advancements in medical and technological fields...ok ok I see my viewpoint is flawed and we are slowly evolving.
The human body hasn't changed much though, besides the fact that we've gone from having 6 fingers to 5 fingers at one point in time....

And is it just me, or are birth defects on the increase?

Just ancient civilizations were of the mind "If the baby's weak or weird, dash it against the stones. You can always make another." =/ so no evidence.

But yeah. I started out against you and ended up supporting you. XD ah well.

I think bone and heart weakness are on the rise, and eye weakness (not blindness), perhaps even arthritis and alzheimer's. Thing is, we can never really compare, because record-keeping and diagnoses even from 10 years ago were different than now.
